Creating a boundary for a mosaic using another layer

Question

I just created a mosaic dataset in a geodatabase and I am trying to create boundary for it using another layer (the pink polygons in the picture) in our database. Is there a way to do this using the build boundary tool?

Build Boundary and Build Footprint make no mention of other files although the Define Overview allows for Defining an extent that varies from the boundary to quote the useage section
