Searching for Content titles doesn't always work

Question

Using ArcGIS Online, my organization has has over 1,000 items under My Organization's content.

I have a feature layer named, RIPADashboardFME.

* If I search for fme or FME, no results are found.
* If I search for Dashboard, some results are found but not RIPADashboardFME.
* If I search for RIPAd, some results are found including RIPADashboardFME.

Is this a bug? Can someone confirm? Is it a known issue or should it be reported?

If the item name includes spaces or underscores, the search seems to work fine. I'm guessing that this only happens when there are no spaces or underscores in the name.

I would agree and recommend calling support to discuss and possibly create a bug.

to further test you could create TestDashboardFME, Test Dashboard FMW, Test_Dashboard_FME and see if all or any results come up when searching test or dashboard to confirm that when it is one word the search does not work as expected.

Thanks for your response. I think that the search should not fail because there are no spaces in the the layer name. I would argue that this is a bug.

This is what it looks at when searching:

"For items, the default fields are title, tags, snippet, description, type, and type keywords". I'm wondering if it's because it's all one word. I've never had an issue but use spaces or underscores in all my layer names.
