Accuracy of compass in Field Maps location button

I have received feedback that the compass function in the location button in the new version of Field Maps is inaccurate - it jumps around and does not pick up the direction accurately. Has anyone else found this? Can it be improved? No problems with it in the old version of Field Maps.

We have found the compass function to be completely inaccurate and makes navigating to a point or along a transect using Field Maps nearly impossible. We use it on boats, so I am not sure if it is just due to lack of service or if it is something with the app that can be improved.

I've seen it but it varies just even from a phone to a tablet. I want to say it has something to do with your device and not necessarily field maps.
