Hello, I am inquiring as to the input dataset or feature class for the define projection function after the Revit model has been added to the scene. I have attempted to execute the function, but the error message "define project failed" indicates that it has failed.

Well nothing I have said has moved you forward, so in summary...

If the data won't add to an empty map (that is, no other data, map has no coordinate system set)

then contact Tech Support.

Skip the trying to define the projection or setting the coordinate system since data can be added to an empty map even without a coordinate system.

Also, do not assume that data that can be read in one program is automagically readable in another. That is not a rule and the data you have may be in error as far as ArcGIS Pro is concerned.

Tech Support is where you need to go now since no one else is weighing in

Your response is once again highly beneficial to me, despite the fact that I have yet to successfully import the Revit model into ArcGIS. I appreciate it. I verified that the coordination system of Hong Kong 1980 is shared by Revit and ArcGIS. However, it fails to display any model, which is quite peculiar.

Define Projection doesn't change the coordinate system of a data set that has a coordinate system already. In fact, if you use Define Projection in that case, the file will be defined incorrectly and be misinterpreted and not show up where you want it.

If you need revit files to be in a different coordinate system, the it needs to be "Projected", but I don't know if the Project Tool works for revit files, so I will leave that to you to find out how to get a revit file into a different coordinate system. All I can confirm is that "Define Projection" should only be used when you know what the data coordinate system is AND it hasn't been defined. You never use it to change it into another one

Thanks for your answer, but I'm still not sure how to see my Revit model in ArcGIS Pro. When I add data to an empty map, the coordinate system is WGS 1984 Web Mercator, but I'm in Hong Kong, so I need Hong Kong 1980. I have to change the coordinate system and use define projection to update it, this time I define projection completed . but when I click the 3D layer to zoom it, this is not zoom to 3d model. you can refer the picture attachment.

You can only define the coordinate system of a file type if it can be defined and if what you are defining as is what it actually is and not what you want it to be.

Can you add the data to an empty map (no basemap etc etc) and report what the coordinate values are/look like? Do they look like they are in decimal degrees? and if so are they in the correct location for your locale?
