I been working on a water utility network and noticed the material field uses text values in the essentials data model and short values in the expanded data model. What's the reason behind using the different data types?

The feedback we received was that a lot of people would prefer to keep a text domain for that field, although a integer field is better for database performance.
For an essential migration, using a text field provides a more straight forward migration of data.
