Saving credentials for a secured map service saved as a lyrx file

ArcMap lyr files store credentials for secured map services. It seems lyrx files do not store these credentials. Is there a workaround for this? What is the reasoning behind loosing this functionality? Lyr files are still supported in ArcGIS Pro 3.1, but I don't want to set up a process that eventually stops working. Will lyrx files store credentials in future ArcGIS Pro releases?
