Beginner Help for Inserting Legend

Hello everyone!

I am still fairly new to ArcMap. I created a map for a park and now I am ready to add a legend, arrows, icons, etc. However ArcMap has this unavailable for me to access. Could someone explain why this is happening? How can I activate these options? I am attaching a screenshot of what I am seeing. Anything helps, thank you.

Hi @VanesaQuintero ,

Are you working out of the layout view or map view? The layout view will have the title, header, and map elements you would need like the legend. On the map, if you go to the bottom left of the map there will be two icons to the left of the circular refresh arrows. You can switch between map and layout with these. You can create or download templates for your layout view, too. The link below outlines a lot of the basics.
