As you are using the uniquevalsfromfield you list only contains actual values from the data and you do not need a LIKE sql expression:

Thanks for the response. I have tried the selection with both the LIKE qualifier and no qualifier. I think the issue may be in my data but I am unsure how to check it. When searching a text field, how does the search tool handle a '-' dash in the middle of a string? In this case the string is a series of numbers ex: 15-015.

Because you are searching a string the dash does not make a difference at all. Have you tested your SQL query in the REST Service directory for that layer?

Hi Rob,

Does your widget support this workflow:

I have two layers in the viewer: A Zip Code layer and a Customer Point Layer
I want to locate Customers in a particular Zip that meet a certain criteria. The customer search criteria would be entered in the attribute search and the Zip would be a spatial search that involves selecting a specific ZIP code number.

I can't seem to do this. Spatial searches don't honor attribute query definitions and can't do a select from selection set or anything like that.

Also, is there an option to limit the search to the current map extent?

I am new to this whole process and am having trouble configuring the eSearch Widget. I am simply trying to query my address layer on the SITUS field and have been unable to get the configuration file to validate. Here is what I have in the layer section:

Let me begin by thanking you for all of the research and development you've made available to the rest of us. You really are quite brilliant.

I'm hoping you might be able to help me address some strange behavior with regards to the Esearch widget. I have installed and configured the Esearch widget v3.2 (and the Identify widget v3.2) in an application I've built using ArcGIS Viewer for Flex Application Builder v3.2. After several learning curves the Esearch widget functions exactly as I've intended by simply searching based on either situs address or parcel number. Testing is successful in the following two environments: 1) Within the "Preview" tab in the Application Builder; and, 2) Within a browser after choosing the "Open in browser" drop-down option next to the application name as listed in ArcGIS Viewer for Flex Application Builder - My Applications window. Now for the strange behavior...after choosing "Export" from the same drop-down list and opening the resulting application in another browser session, everything looks fine and the Identify widget continues to work as it did during testing; however, the Esearch widget does not work. It opens and displays as expected however nothing happens when a search is attempted using the same search terms as used during testing. No errors. No crashes. It simply doesn't perform the search it's configured to perform and as it does in the test environment.

FYI - I've ensured the feature service utilized by the Esearch is running, and that the ObjectID and Shape fields are visible when I publish the service. (i'm thinking that my testing would have been unsuccessful if these matters had been an issue in the first place however I thought I'd mention it anyway)

Any ideas?

I am using version 3.0.17f. When I set diablelinksifnull="true" it won't show some of the images even though there is data in the field. When I set it to false, it does display the images. What am I doing wrong?

Technically the files are on the web server (which is loaded on the same machine as ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Viewer for Flex Application Builder). However, I think (???) my hang-up may have something to do with not having the Web Adapter piece in place. Even without that piece in place I was able to systematically test some things as long as I was testing within our network. That is why I was confused when the Esearch function didn't work even though everything else (i.e. viewing the application as designed, seeing data with appropriate scale dependencies, identifying features with your Identify widget, etc.) seemed to work just fine. But I'm willing to concede that my problems might have something to do with the Web Adapter which is slated to be installed and configured next week. Perhaps I'll wait until then before losing any more sleep over this...

I see the issue in the code. Are you using the widgets source code version? I don't put out compiled minor fixes like this for older versions of the widget.

I got the eSearch Widget working thanks to your assitance with the code (thank you very much). Now I am having a problem with the accuracy of the buffer. Buffer distances are being applied at roughly 2/3 of the specified distance. I am wondering if this could be a projection issue? Any ideas?

To find out what you data is in, you can just go to the rest/services directory, click on the feature of interest and see what it lists for Spatial Reference.

I have successfully configured hyperlinks in my related table results, but when I click on the link (which successfully opens the link in a new browser tab) my web map view becomes a white screen and most functionality is not responsive. The web page must be reloaded to get the map back.
Any ideas?

Event though you might consider this an intranet application the Flex Viewer is an internet application and thus you should not be using links that are using UNC paths. You need to create a virtual directory for your \\hera\gis\Asbuilts\Scanned\ folder that way you can add a real url to the link.

Hello all,

I'm having an issue with relates. I see them in my mxd. I see them in my Rest service. I've failed to have eSearch pulling them up. I can search the layer and return results, but no related records show up in my data grid.
I'm using the 3.2.2 release.

"If you are using a layer that contains a join than the full join field name should be used." Is this true for relates as well? It doesn't seem to work either way. Here's my relates config:

I created virtual directories as you suggested, but the hyperlink function is still causing errors in my map. I have included the configuration xml file as well as screenshots before clicking the hyperlink field and after. What is expecially interesting to me is where the pop-up for the feature end up after hitting the hyperlinked field. The other oddity when the map goes white is that every widget tip when you hover over the widget tray displays as the Identify tool. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried everything to duplicate your error using the latest version of the eSearchWidget... I added a relate with a field that has a pdf file name in it and set that up using a virtual directory and added the linkprefix and linksuffix and worked fine... The only thing I see off in your xml is th fact that relate fields don not need the gridfield="true" attribute because they can only be in the grid, but I tested that too and I could not get an error... Are you using version 3.2.2 of the eSearch and Flex Viewer 3.2?

Not sure if this is what you meant. I tried clicking the query button, but that form doesn't give me a lot of instructions and I'm not clear on what to put in each textbox. I was getting an error (Unable to complete operation) when I entered just a whereclause and tried to run it.

When you click Query Related Records you will need to have an Object ID for one record in your layer, the Relationship ID: is the first number (0) in the text you posted, the Out Fields: just use *, and click the get button.
