For Android, you can sideload the .apk installer file; instructions on sideloading, plus a link to the github location (including the .apk) are included in the blog.
But since you mention a mac, I assume you're interested in the iOS version of the app. iOS is a lot stricter than Android about letting you install unknown apps on the phone. For a single device, pretty much your only option (painful as it sounds) is to set up the development environment, compile the code, and install it on the device, developer-style. If you want to put it on a group of devices, you can set up test flight in your organization for that purpose.

Need concept, this would be particularly useful in back-country search operations. However, having to know how to code and compile, and use a MAC to deploy it, is a pretty high barrier to most, if not all, people being able to use it. Where can I find the actual application?
