We finally were able to introduce a first cut of autocomplete functionality for large lists in the June update of Survey123 for ArcGIS. Some additional details here: International Public Service Day Update

Carl, I just spoke with the Product Manager for Survey123. Auto-Complete is in the backlog and will get address. It likely won't make the cut for the summer but the team recognizes the need and will make it a feature after Survey123 goes final.

I did some digging and it does not appear to be supported. I've got a question into the Survey123 team to see if it is in the backlog or planned for a later release. I'll let you know what I find.

Instead of having "Select_one" is there a way to have auto fill from your choices as you begin to type?
