ArcMap 10.4.1 "pointer error" merge

When "merge" is run on two vector layer the error in the image below appears.

Any help appreciated.

Solved: ArcMap uses Internet Explorer functionality for this, setting Internet Explorer as the default browser seemed to resolve it.

Repairing ArcGIS Desktop could be another option, as far as I know.

Yikes! That is a really strange thing to have to do! I would want to find some other work around as opposed to using Internet Exploder for anything....
