SSL and AWS

We are using an AWS EC2 instance to run ArcGIS for Server (using an elastic load balancer) and would like to use an SSL certificate from a CA.  Does the certificate have to be applied to both the machine running ArcGIS and the ELB?  The instance was created manually, not using Cloud Builder.

We just applied the certificate to the ELB. We used Cloud Builder, but I'm not sure that it would be any different in your case.
