Map Service Projection?

For AGX 3D view, what is the recommended projection for map services?  WGS84, Web Mercator, ?

Both of these coordinate systems have equal performance in 3D if they are fully cached map services.

Our map services are not cached because we need to be able to toggle individual layers on and off in the globe.  In this case, what is the recommended projection for the best performance?  Apparently, you cannot turn on and off individual layers with multilayer cache map services in ArcGIS Explorer?  Also, they may no longer be recommended?  Thanks!
