Labelling by Year from Date Field

Question

I need to label using only the year from the date field.  How do I do this?  Thanks!
I am using ArcView 9.3.

Actually, I worked out a way. There might be a better way but this works: DatePart("d", [Sampled_Date_Time] )  & "/"  & DatePart("m", [Sampled_Date_Time] ) & "/"  & DatePart("yyyy", [Sampled_Date_Time] )

how do you do this but show it like this: 
dd/mm/yyyy
e.g. 31/01/2013

DatePart ("d", [date] ) works for me, calculating a text field from a date field. Maybe double check that the date field is actually a date field, and not text disguised as a date...?
