smallje (September 12, 2011)Hi, the video for editing this template is great! One question though: How do I change the words: Maps and Layers in the heading and the links under Layers heading on the right of the Index page? Also, I am able to correctly have my group show (using the group ID finder); however, when I click on the individual pages, the maps never load. Any thoughts on this? Thanks again!
dvaillancourt (September 12, 2011)I have talked to several users who think it would be beneficial for the "fullscreen map" to open up in the ArcGIS.com viewer. This would also enable the user to turn layers off and on, and also allow them to switch basemaps and enter address information. Everyone wants the ability to switch basemap, and find an address. Thanks for the nice template.
Hi smallje, You can change the heading by editing index.html and changing the H1 tag. You can edit the links on the right by changing the layers group ID. If you do not want to show the layers, you can remove the DIV tags with id's of "featuredLayers" and "layers_pagination". We've updated the code slightly to fix your third question. Try using version 1.3.1. Hope that helps!
smallje (September 14, 2011)Hi! Thank you for the help!! I downloaded the new version (1.3.1), but my maps still don't seem to load. I had my IT department look at it and they don't think it's a firewall issue. Also, do I found the layerID the same way I found a groupID? By using the finder link? Thanks again!
jamesh (September 12, 2011)No luck - the map from my group refers to a local site that doesn't exist-not my group on the internet
sirianne (September 14, 2011)What do I need to do when I enter the url into the Group ID Finder tool and no groups are found? I just created a new group within the last hour. I opened the group, copied the URL and pasted it into the Group ID Finder. Is there a delay or might I be doing something wrong?
Hi sirianne, can you make sure that your group is set to public? There shouldn't be any delay. Make sure that the group title and user are in the URL. Thanks
Miguel (September 15, 2011)Greetings, samllje wrote on the 12 of Sept, "...,the video for editing this template is great!". Would it be possible to get the link to said video? Also, is there any further documentaion on how to set up this as a part of the my ArcGIS on line? Right now, I can see the single map that I have shared, as lon as I share it with Everyone, but not with my group. But I can only see this page If I open it localy from my machine. How do I make it available to people that have access to my group? Many thanks in advance.
beardogklein (September 16, 2011)The video shows several California maps added from the group and a "next page" button. Only three maps are added from my group and no "next page" button. A TWEET link is sitting up close to my displayed maps where a "next page" button should be. Is there some sizing/spacing issue?
Hi beardogklein, If you change line #20 on "/scripts/home/local.js" from "web map" to "map" it will show all your maps. http://bit.ly/qIX2i5
volkermell (September 16, 2011)I am getting an error message that a script is causing the browser to run slowly - tried IE, FireFox, Chrome - all of them have problems showing the template. The Original template shows - the error happens once I put my group ID. Tried two different groups on two different websites. Any solution?
volkermell, I'm not seeing that with the groups that I've used. Could you give me your group ID or email address so we can figure out what the problem is?
volkermell (September 16, 2011)Esri_webmap, visit http://newmdcgis.mdc.mo.gov/public-m...ery/index.html and see the issue. I've got many maps not displaying.
RockvilleMD_MapsApps (September 20, 2011)I've just configured the gallery template for our city. The maps are a combination of our Flex map apps and a bunch of basic ArcGIS.com maps, so thanks for fixing the template to let them live together. http://maps.rockvillemd.gov/gallery Just one question for now. I've left off the Facebook and Twitter buttons since it wasn't clear to me what they were supposed to do or what configuration is required. Are they supposed to work as is, or do I need to do set up something? Thanks. -- Marc
bharen (September 21, 2011)When using the Group ID Finder I keep getting 'No groups were found' in the results dialog. Yet I have selected the available web maps in my group and the syntax follows the default syntax shown on the Group ID Finder page. My group and all web maps are set to public access. Any ideas?
RockvilleMD_MapsApps (September 21, 2011)bharen -- I had the same problem with the Group ID Finder and guessed that it was the name of my group causing problems (lots of character substitutions in the URL string). So, I temporarily shortened the name, successfully ran the Finder, and then changed the name back.
RockvilleMD_MapsApps (September 21, 2011)I'm having grid view formatting problems when the map titles have varying lengths. I've edited the home\local.js to extend the title truncation but now the rows don't wrap well. Can't seem to find a way to fix this. Any ideas? http://maps.rockvillemd.gov/gallery
Hi Rockville - Yes, it looks like because they are 2 lines they don't line up in the grid. Here's what you can do: Change the height of the title in CSS so that they are all the same. Let me know if that works for you. http://bit.ly/oM9YFL
