Send email reminders before built in account passwords expire

I checked and could not find an ArcGIS Enterprise specific idea on this, only an older ArcGIS Online one from 2017 (still open, 13 kudos) asking for the same thing, so I am posting an Enterprise version here.

 

Right now, if you turn on password expiration for built in accounts, users just get locked out the day it expires, no warning at all. This is tough for field staff who are not IT people and have no idea why they suddenly cannot log in. It is even worse for service accounts running scheduled scripts, since those just start failing with zero notice to the admin.

 

A few ways this could work, roughly following what other systems do:

 

• Email reminders at 14, 7, and 1 day before expiration, similar to how Portal already emails for password resets or license expiration.
• A notification in the Portal bell icon, so it shows up right when someone logs in.
• Ideally, a webhook event for password expiration, since Enterprise already supports organization webhooks for other events. This would let admins hook it into whatever automation platform they already use, like Power Automate or Microsoft Teams, and route reminders however fits their organization.

 

Any one of these would be a big improvement over the current silence. Happy to test if Esri wants feedback from a real deployment.
