Can ArcGIS Enterprise Data Pipelines Server update an ArcGIS Online feature layer?

I have added a feature layer from ArcGIS Online to ArcGIS Portal with stored credentials and am trying to use it in as an output in Data Pipelines Server with the Add and Update option.  When I run the pipeline, I receive this error:

"This item does not exist or is inaccessible"

Does Data Pipelines Server only work with services hosted on the portal it is federated with?

Not currently. Today, ArcGIS Data Pipelines can only create and update items that are in the working organization (where you are logged in and running the data pipeline), and are owned by you. This is true for Data Pipelines in Enterprise and Online.

While we track requests here in Esri Community and highly value feedback here, I also recommend submitting an enhancement request via Esri Technical Support. This enables Support to track this request if received by other organizations, and further helps us prioritize the enhancement.
