カスタマイズが保存されないマップ - ユーザータイプとロールはCreator以上に設定されています

Can you clarify why publisher/creator role permissions are needed to save the changes within a Power BI visual? The changes are made within the Power BI file/service, and it does not appear to actually create any content within our Portal, so this level of permissions seems excessive.

ETA: we'd like users to be able to use the ESRI map visuals in Power BI, but not create physical content within our portal. Is there a way to separate these permissions?

Hi,

In the ArcGIS for Power BI visual, customizations like symbol color (#3), size ranges (#4), and organizational layers (#5) are stored in what is called the "Map State."

The key issue is that saving the Map State requires both user role and type, should be creator or higher when you want to edit the map and save the changes.

I would suggest the following checks, please.

* Check Custom Roles: Ensure your 'Data Editor' role isn't a custom role that has 'Publishing' or 'Creator' permissions disabled. ArcGIS for Power BI specifically looks for the standard Creator privileges.

* Persistent Login: Try signing out of the ArcGIS visual, clearing your browser cache/Power BI Desktop cache, and signing back in. If the visual doesn't 'see' you as a Creator at the moment you make the change, it won't trigger the save.

The behavior you’re seeing is likely due to the Map State persistence requirements. While color and size adjustments seem like Power BI-only settings, they are actually part of the ArcGIS Map Specification. Creator-level permissions are required not just for 'Join Layers,' but to save any modifications to the map state (including symbology and organizational layers) so they persist across sessions or page navigations.
