We are currently experiencing a critical performance issue with our ArcGIS Enterprise Site, running version 11.5. Although there are no logical errors and all validations complete successfully, portal pages are loading extremely slowly, particularly the self.json endpoint, which is requested in the background on nearly every page.
There are no firewalls or proxy between the machines, and the environment currently does not have any active services or data.
Issue Summary:
1.Portal performance degrades significantly, with slow page loads across the site.
2.The self.json page is especially impacted.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
1.Performed an iisreset on the hosting server. This temporarily improves performance for 2–3 minutes before the issue recurs.
2.Redirected federation to the internal hosting server port; however, this worsened the problem, as recycling or IIS reset is not a viable option in that configuration.
3.Removed the "hosting" role from the ArcGIS Server federated with the site. This also improved performance, but is clearly not a viable solution.
4.As a temporary workaround, we configured the federation Web Adaptor's application pool to recycle every minute. This helps stabilize performance but is not sustainable.
We have opened a case with Esri Support, but we are also reaching out to the community in hopes of leveraging collective experience. It’s possible that someone has encountered a similar issue and may be able to offer insights or a resolution.
Thank you for your support.
