Adding Bing Imagery to ArcPad 10

Question

So I've been told this is possible and had it demonstrated to me.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it really just this slow.
- Export ArcPad .apm from ArcMap data (included Bing Aerial base layer, but it appears you need to add it to the .apm later)
- Open .apm in ArcPad 10
- Add data from Server
- Select Bing Aerial layer (scale is only 1:5000)

So far, I have a bing logo at the bottom left and a (frozen) loading symbol and no imagery has yet appeared (after 1/2 hour of loading... and it is still going or maybe frozen).

Worried that if it is not going to work on my desktop PC, it has no chance on the PDA.

It was a problem with our proxy accessing Bing Maps - though it works fine in ArcMap.
You can export the Bing Maps imagery as an image in ArcMap and then add it to your ArcPad application.

"There is another workaround that may help. Load ArcGIS Online

layers into ArcMap, zoom to the study area, and export the map as "GeoTiff". To do this go to

File/Export Map and specify TIFF as the output and make sure that Write World File and Write

GeoTiff tags are checked. This tiff should be able to be viewed in Arcpad. This will allow use of

background images from ArcGIS online layers in ArcPad"

Additionally the Bing Maps layers work fine in my ArcMap session and no one in my office could get Bing layers to load in ArcPad - I have a service ticket with ESRI AU support.
