Changes made in Map Viewer are not seen on associated Dashboards

I have a map that runs a dashboard. I wanted to change some symbology but when I make and save the changes to the map in map viewer the changes are not seen in the dashboards and that map sticks to the original map symbology, filters, extent etc.
