How to solve the error in buffer

Hi,

I have a problem when I try to buffer. Error 999999 indicates "A buffer cannot currently cover both poles."

I am wondering how to solve the problem.

could be that you are using data in a geographic coordinate system and specified a buffer size which would cover the poles.  confirm that you are using projected data if you want buffers in planar units or deal with the geodesic How Buffer (Analysis) works—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop
