Map extent from mapboard/compilation window not matching when Synced

Hello,

I have a user that is having an issue with the map extent when syncing. The map extent is set in the mapboard window and reflected accurately in the compilation window, however when she syncs, the map extent does not match - it seems to be more zoomed in than she set it to be and cuts off features (see screenshot).

This only happens occasionally and I have not been able to recreate it on my computer. Has anyone else seen this?

Hey Chris,

If you have access to ArcGIS Pro and are logging into the extension with an ArcGIS organization account , the AIX export workflow would be another option. You can find more details on that here or here.You'll be able to adjust your DPI through the Pro export panel, and bring that file into Illustrator through the extension.

Any chance you'd be able to attach one of the mismatch synced AI files here? We can take a deeper look into what may be causing the issue on your side.

Hi Anna,

This workflow is possible for our GIS professionals, but I also have graphic designers & marketing professionals using the tool - which is amazing!!! Unfortunately they do not all have access to ArcPro. The ability for them to sync and create their own maps is really efficient and beneficial!

For now - since the issue is intermittent - we can have a GIS professional generate the basemap in Pro and send the file to the designer. You mentioned this is a known issue, is it something that is going to be addressed and updated in the future?

I reached out to the user having the issue. When she sends me an actual working file I can forward that to you!

Thanks for the info! We often sync Nearmap (high res aerial imagery) with the extension, and therefore need to set a higher DPI for the image quality. As I mentioned, I've never had this issue with the map extent not being correct, but I would say 9.5 times out of 10 we are setting the DPI to 250-300 because we're syncing the imagery... any recommendations for working with imagery layers that require a higher DPI?

Thanks for the details! Yep, this is related to your user changing the dpi. If they keep the dpi set to the default value, they shouldn't run into this. Stay tuned for updates on this in the future.

Thanks for replying! Below are a few bullets from the user that is having the issue. One thing I'm noticing in their comments under artboard size is "using set artboard size: current" - I'm not exactly sure what they mean. I can get clarification if that would help.

Artboard size varies, but usually setting up for 10.5 in w x 6.625 in h, or using set arboard size: current
Preview: using Imagery base
In compilation, using Imagery base map, then adding Add Content > Add Layers > My Favorites
- Nearmap US Vertical Imagery +
- Majority of time other favorite layers too
- DPI: 250
- Wait for drawing to load
- Then sync
