Merging common fields

When merging two tables with a common field name but different lengths, i.e, string length 30 and string length 50, it defaults to the smaller string length, and your tables won't merge. It seems like it would be common sense to default to the larger length.

Just want to comment that this is still an issue in ArcGIS Pro 2.4. Why does the tool not default to the larger string length?
