In ArcMap when you click on a record in the table the record number shows in a control on the bottom of the table window. You can then click the back and forward icons to move around. In Pro this control is not there. It's nice when you are working your way up and down the table to be able to see exactly where you are in the list.
This is a duplicate idea, see here: https://community.esri.com/ideas/13900
A thread showing some screen shots about this
https://community.esri.com/thread/221381-in-arcmap-when-i-would-open-an-attribute-table-of-selected-records-the-record-number-of-the-particular-record-i-am-on-is-shown-in-the-bottom-left-hand-corner-of-the-attribute-table-in-arcgis-pro-i-dont-see-a-record-number
This was addressed in ArcGIS Pro 2.9 by adding the record number to the row header. On the left is ArcGIS Pro. On the right is ArcMap.
