I am trying to grant privileges on a ArcSDE 10.3 that is stored in SQL Server 2012 using ArcCatalog 10.2.2. When I right click on a feature dataset or table all the options under Manage are grayed out. The ArcGIS license level is Advanced and I am both the DBO and a sysadmin in SQL Server. Has anyone else encountered this before? Is this a 10.2 vs 10.3 issue? I have a 10.1 ArcSDE database in that same SQL Server and I am not having the same issue.

Is DBO the data owner?
You can only grant 'Privileges' connected as the data owner.
Thanks Asrujit. That was the issue. Someone sent me the database and I had to use the data owner that they had created.
