Geoform attachment security

I am using GeoForm in one of web applications in development. I am concerned about the security aspect of allowing external clients and/or citizens in adding attachments. Can anyone advise regarding the security of attachments in GeoForm? Is there anything (script wise) that I can do to ensure attachments are checked against existing anti-virus/malware software or am I being overly-cautious?
