How uploaded �??shape files�?� can be added to the map?

Question

I have uploaded 5 shape files and wanted to create multiple web maps and web mapping application using these shape files. It appears that there is no way to access these shape files (while we are in the MAP session) unless they are added with having the �??publish this file as feature layer�?� checked.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]34232[/ATTACH], [ATTACH=CONFIG]34233[/ATTACH], [ATTACH=CONFIG]34234[/ATTACH]

What might be the issue here?

You can only add shapefiles directly to your map via zipfiles. You can't add shapefile through your "My Content", to the map. But as you said, you can publish feature services to your "My Content" and then add it to maps.

Long story short, there is no problem 🙂
