getting X Y Z from the 3D analyst 'interpolate line' tool DTM

Dear All

I want to create river cross sections that are geo-reference i.e. X Y Z data. This is necessary for innovyze ICM. Exporting an interpolated line only gives me chainage and elevation which is okay for building 1d river models but not for 1d+2d or 2d models. I am a arcmap novice I'm afraid. I suspect I need to create a shape file of polylines and update said polylines using the lidar/DTM.
