Arrows on polyline features

This is a question for desktop. I am trying to make polyline features into arrows to demonstrate migration patterns. I would like to symbolize the thickness of the arrows based on the total percentage of migrants along each route. The problem is that the arrows on the ends get distorted when the lines get very thick. Is there a solution to this so that the arrow ends stay proportional to the thickness of the lines?
