create a footprint from overlapping polygons

I am looking for a script or tool which creates a footprint polygon featureclass from an overlapping featureclass. I would like the output to include a lookup table with the original attributes from the overlapping FC and a relationship class to link to the new footprint with newly calculated acres based on the geometric intersection of the overlapping polygons.
