Issue with importing kml/kmz

I'm fairly new to ArcGIS, I'm having an issue with importing kml/kmz files into ArcGIS online. After it is added to my content and map, the original file structure is changed and the symbols are overridden by stock yellow pins and purple lines (the kml connects that coordinate points for me). Anyone else experiencing this? My map was fine a 2 days ago and when opening yesterday morning, the symbols were automatically overridden.
