relating features locations to each other

I have a government map that has various geological features some shaped some linear others mostly point. I wrote a little python code using arcpy that prints out every field in every "feature" but how do I relate them spacially  IE find all point features of this type that exist in this shape or on this line feature ideally I would do this using python but I am open to other methods too
