Failed to Connect to Database

Question

Hello All,

I recently tried to add data with an .xlsx extension and the following error occurred:

Failed to connect to database. An underlying database error occurred. Class not registered.

I saved the file under the .xls extension and it worked. I am running the dinosaur 9.3 version but have never had a problem with it handling files in windows 7 before. Why am I suddenly getting this error when trying to bring .xlsx files into the program?

I had the same problem with 10.2.1 and excel arcgis 2013, resolved converting excel to dbf file. on this page you can do the conversion without downloading software any or drivers to find the office: http://www.elconvertidor.com. I wish you all work up soon.
