Data in Table format

Question

I'm new to this whole platform and very lost.  I've looked at the data reviewer sample code in the Javascript API, but I'm confused about the where the data is coming from.  This comment is in the code and it makes me think I have to setup something on the server to be able to make the call:

//This should point to the Data Reviewer soe

Are there pre-built data sets that I can access, if so is there a list of them,  OR, do I have to build this data myself?

This is the documentation for the Data Reviewer Server Object Extension (SOE). This is not a requirement for simply showing data in a table, though.

The 3.x JavaScript API has a FeatureTable widget for displaying data. I don't think this widget is in the 4.x version of the API, though.
