I want to have an email notification sent to me when a layer is edited (new feature added), including the values for the various fields of the new feature (some 20-30 fields will be filled in).  Any advice on how to approach this?

What RDBMS are you utilizing?  We run SQL2008 and I have built a number of triggers to email me of changes occuring to the database objects/data.  Just a thought...
