Story Map Tour - Side Panel Layout Cover Page Configuration Text Limits

In the process of recreating an existing Story Map Tour - Side Panel layout from scratch to correct insecure image problems I noticed that the Cover Page Configuration now limits the number of text characters to 996 in my description. My existing Story Map Tour with Side Panel created in June does not have this limitation. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
