URL Parameters in the downloaded Minimalist app?

Hello,

I have downloaded the Minimalist template and am trying to configure it to accept url parameters so it will zoom to features dynamically. So far I am not having any luck, it either does not zoom at all or it will zoom to the wrong location. I figure I am configuring the default.js file incorrectly, any insight to what I am missing?
