uploading downloaded shapefile into ArcMap from soil survey website

Question

hey all, i have recently downloaded an AOI shapefile from the  Web Soil Survey - Home  . I have tried dragging and dropping the above shapefile into ArcMap but ArcMap did not take it. I do have the right projection (WGS-84). Just wondering what am i missing. Thanks.

You don't add a shapefile from Windows Explorer.

Open ArcMap > Connect to folder (if not yet done) > Add Data > Navigate to the shapefile and add it to ArcMap.

I agree with Dan, George. Your clip looks like a Windows Explorer folder . . .drag from ArcCatalog or Add Data.

Use the Add Data button, navigate to the folder and see if the shapefile is there.  What you have highlighted might not be a shapefile but something else, since the full file name isn't visible in your image
