How do I keep my feature layer in sde in sync with the edits from the edit widget?

There seems to be a delay between when a feature is edited with the edit widget and when it shows up in sde (in ArcMap). The same can be said for edits made in ArcMap are delayed before they show up in the webmap. This may have more to do with the feature service than the edit widget but I'm wondering how others deal with this?
