Pipeline Buffer

Question

I am trying to create a buffer on a pipeline 1 mile long from the start of the line. Any ideas? Basically a 660 ft buffer from the start to a mile down the pipeline.

You could duplicate the pipeline that you want to buffer and split the duplicated pipeline feature. Once you have completed the buffer operation delete the duplicate feature. Unfortunately, the Analysis - Proximity - Buffer geoprocessing tool does not have a "distance along" option. That might be a good idea for ideas.arcgis.com.
