Dividing Area of 2 Polygon Files

Hi there,

I am currently working on a program to figure out the ratio of fire zone area to the area of a buffer. I started with fire zones clipped within a buffer (orange) I performed the intersect tool to reach the current step I am at. I would like to some how combine the two pink areas and divide by the total area of the buffer. The final output will be in code form so any answer in terms of a certain processing tool or python code will work.
