Select multiple features in ArcGIS Online?

I have several web maps published for our organization's users.  A common request is to select a bunch of features in the map, and then view those records in the table--as you would create a selection set in a map document.  I can't find a way to select multiple features in the map using the ArcGIS Online map viewer.  Is this possible?

Hi Marianne,

This capability is not currently available in the ArcGIS.com Map Viewer. You can select items in the table and have them selected in the web map, but you cannot select more than one feature in the Map Viewer and view the corresponding feature in the table..

Please go ahead and promote the following idea if this is something that you would like to see in the future:
