Publish .dwg layer to ArcGIS Server

I'm looking for a way to publish a .dwg layer to ArcGIS Server 10.2.2. DWG's used to be a supported source data layer type. When publishing a map with a .dwg layer I get an error stating that the layer type is not supported. So trying a different route and using the interoperability extension for desktop and server. I try publishing using data from an interoperability connection. The map publishes without error but the data doesn't show up. Anyone have any suggestions or know if this is even possible?
