I am using arcgis 9.3. Is there any way to download layers or shapefiles from esric/arcgis as apparently everything is now pnkinfo files and 9.3 can't read those? Thanks

I have an older (9.3) version on ArcGIS. I can only find very few lyr or shp files on esri/argis. Almost everything now is lpk or pnkinfo. Is there any way to extract the lyr/shp files from those? Thanks
