A user of mine asked about this today and I figured I'd share. He has a completed survey on his tablet and asked me "Is there a way for me to just email this to myself?", to which I told him "No". That being said, I think that that would be a pretty sweet utility.
Idea: I would like the option of generating reports in the Field App, using one of the report templates set up by the Survey author.
Benefits: This would solve a lot of issues involving getting the user to visit the Survey123 website (they keep accidentally editing records), or an Experience Builder App (I have to build it), and let them get the reports pretty much instantly.
Preferences, etc.:
- I'd prefer to be able to do it as a "Submit and report" button, but I'd also settle for a "Submit" and then "Report" option. Either way, it would eliminate steps in the workflow.
- For practical purposes, I think this would have to be opt-in per survey; for example, I have a survey that requires some values to be calculated via nightly script before the data is good to use in a report, but I have other surveys where the data is ready as soon as it's submitted.
- Further, saving to the user's device is easiest, but if there were also an option to email the report automatically (using the email in the user's profile? idk), that would be primo.
In conclusion, being able to generate reports from the field app would remove a procedural stumbling block and get users the product they need on-demand, in the field, even.
