Set start playback position in Timeline widget

I would like to have option to set starting position in Timeline Widget same as it is in Map viewer.

It is useful if I want to show users the most interesing part in history, when they open app.

This has been supported in the latest AGOL 2026 Feb release. Let me know if you encounter any other issues with it. Thanks.

I needed to set a custom start point in the Timeline widget too. What worked was configuring the widget’s time extent in the app’s JSON settings before launch. Alternatively, setting the map’s initial visible time range can sync the widget’s playback position. Would be nice if Esri added a direct “start at” parameter—right now it takes a bit of setup.
