I decided to get fancy the other day and point my Layout Template folder to the place where I store my PAGX.
Now I can hit the "Import Layout" dropdown and pick the template I want.
HOWEVER.
There isn't any way to pick "Don't make a new copy of this map" with the dropdown.
This is the button with the behaviour I want:
If you've already imported your template and are maybe doing it again but in landscape, any map that is different from the template (changed symbology, added a layer, etc.) will be duplicated.
This behaviour is different from doing it through the "Import Layout Window", which will duplicate anything if the box is unchecked.
Importing a PAGX from Catalog acts the same as the template gallery:
All this to say: I always want to reuse the maps; please let me set this behaviour across all instances of importing PAGX to make it so.
