Category selector missing from list of actions

I have a dashboard that I created a few years ago.  Last week, I added a new category selector named "Staff filter".  It does not show up in the list of filter actions for the other category selectors, charts, etc.  How can I enable it in these actions lists?

What kind of selector is your "staff filter"? In order to be filtered, it needs to have an actual data source, meaning the selector has to be based on features or grouped values. And there needs to be a date field in that data source as well.

If your staff filter is a list of predefined options, there won't be a date field available for filtering.
