How do I unit test my GeoEvent Processor Adapter

I am developing an adapter and I would like to write unit tests for the adapter to test out its parsing/GeoEvent building capabilities. I have not found any documentation or examples as to how to accomplish this task. Are there any resources for GeoEvent Processor adapter development that would help me here.
